# javaBin archive — Norwegian Java community origins

## What it does

The server gives an agent a research archive: javaBin's founding on April 23, 1998, the earlier 1996 attempt, the people in the inner circle, java.no as a Java web application with JForum, and JavaZone growing from 350 attendees in a basement to 3,600 at Oslo Spektrum. Material comes from primary sources — a 2007 tribute post, firsthand memories, annual meeting documents, and Wayback Machine snapshots.

The repository also carries a static site in `docs/`, plain HTML and CSS with no build step and no frameworks. Alongside it sit `baseline/` with the timeline and findings, `sources/` with firsthand accounts, `snapshots/` with java.no captures, and `scripts/` for fetching and research. The MCP endpoint itself is `https://mcp-javabin-archieve.fly.dev/mcp`, reached over HTTP.

Reach for it when you are writing about the Norwegian Java scene or tracing how a small Oslo group built a large conference. For anything else it just adds context your agent will not use.
