## What it does

IWE connects an agent to a folder of Markdown documents containing plans, specifications, decisions, and other project notes. The agent can read that context, save new findings, and reorganize documents while you keep direct control of the files.

The MCP server runs through `@iwe-org/mcp`. It does not include an AI model; it provides tools for working with notes while the model comes from your connected agent. The server works with the notes directory used at launch, so a Markdown note folder is required for it to have project context to read or change. IWE can be connected to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf (Devin Desktop), Cline, and Zed.

## When to use it
- retain agent decisions between sessions
- search earlier project context in Markdown notes
- link plans, specifications, and decisions
- organize project memory in a folder

## Example prompts
- Save the decision from this task in the project's Markdown notes.
- Find notes about earlier decisions for this feature and use them while working.
- Organize the project notes by linking plans to specifications and removing duplicates.
