## What it does

Infrawise scans source files, cloud setups, and database layouts to feed deterministic context into your editor. Assistants frequently invent schema details when reading application code in isolation. With this server running, the model inspects real partition keys, secondary indexes, and queue configurations before suggesting data access patterns.

Running this tool requires Node.js 22 or newer. Older runtime versions will crash immediately. The first run inspects your environment and writes an `infrawise.yaml` file, caching the infrastructure graph for 24 hours. When editing code, the server keeps project metadata in memory and processes only changed files, batching rapid saves across two-second intervals.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add infrawise -- npx -y infrawise
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add infrawise -- npx -y infrawise
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "infrawise": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "infrawise"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "infrawise": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "infrawise"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add infrawise npx -y infrawise
```

## When to use it
- prevent unindexed table scans on large DynamoDB tables
- spot missing column indexes before writing relational queries
- verify partition keys and sorting logic across cloud databases
- detect concentrated access patterns creating hot partition risks

## Example prompts
- Check whether my proposed query causes an unindexed scan on the Orders table.
- Show missing indexes for the email column in the users table.
- Inspect which backend functions read from our configured SQS queues.
