## What it does

The server searches arXiv and ACL Anthology, while its Semantic Scholar tools retrieve papers that cite or are cited by a selected arXiv paper. It can also search Hugging Face datasets and the web through Exa, Brave, or Tavily. Web search needs an API key for at least one of those providers.

Document tools fetch papers, extract text from PDFs, and compile LaTeX into PDFs. Set `WORKSPACE_DIR` for these file-based tools. LaTeX compilation also needs a LaTeX distribution, `pdflatex`, and `latexmk`; document QA and research proposal tools need `OPENROUTER_API_KEY`. The server requires Python 3.12 or later.

Choose `stdio`, `sse`, or `streamable-http` as the transport. HTTP transports can use token authentication, but tokens are stored in plaintext, so protect the token file.
