## What it does

This MCP server connects an AI assistant to a GitHub repository that contains an Obsidian vault. Its tools can fetch a note with `getFileContents`, search by filename, path, content, or all three through `searchFiles`, find related GitHub issues, and inspect commit history with diffs through `getCommitHistory`.

Setup requires `GITHUB_TOKEN`, `GITHUB_OWNER`, and `GITHUB_REPO`. Use a token with `repo` for a private repository or `public_repo` for a public one; organization repositories also require `read:org`. Without these variables, the server cannot reach the vault.

Claude Code connects through the Smithery HTTP endpoint. The implementation uses TypeScript, validates API inputs with Zod schemas, and includes error handling for failed requests.
