## What it does

This MCP server wires an agent into GSA Per Diem data — lodging rates and meals and incidental expense rates, along with an access readiness check. It ships 7 tools.

You can connect two ways. The hosted HTTP endpoint at `https://gsa-perdiem.1102tools.com/mcp` needs no key. Running it locally through `uvx gsa-perdiem-mcp` does: set `PERDIEM_API_KEY` or the stdio server will not come up.

Per Diem rates move with location and season, so ask for a city and dates rather than a flat daily figure. What comes back are the official GSA values, not hotel prices you could book today.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)
- Remote server: `https://gsa-perdiem.1102tools.com/mcp`
- Environment variables: `PERDIEM_API_KEY` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http gsa-perdiem-mcp https://gsa-perdiem.1102tools.com/mcp
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add --env PERDIEM_API_KEY=<PERDIEM_API_KEY> --transport stdio gsa-perdiem-mcp -- uvx gsa-perdiem-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from gsa-perdiem-mcp <command>

### Codex

1. **Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add gsa-perdiem-mcp --url https://gsa-perdiem.1102tools.com/mcp
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add gsa-perdiem-mcp --env PERDIEM_API_KEY=<PERDIEM_API_KEY> -- uvx gsa-perdiem-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from gsa-perdiem-mcp <command>

### Cursor

            }
        }
    }
}
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from gsa-perdiem-mcp <command>
```
Replace <…> with your own values. uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from gsa-perdiem-mcp <command>

## When to use it
- budget a business trip against official rates
- look up the lodging cap for one city
- split meals from incidental expenses
- confirm Per Diem data covers a given location
- drop the rates into a travel estimate

## Example prompts
- What's the GSA Per Diem lodging rate for Austin in March?
- Work out meals and incidental expenses for a 4-day trip to Denver.
- Check whether Per Diem data is available for this city and show the rates.
