## What it does

Google Trends MCP is a hosted server at `https://api.trendsmcp.ai/mcp`. It exposes three tools. `get_time_series` returns history for one keyword on one source. `get_growth` reports percent change across windows from 7 days up to 5 years. `get_top_trends` answers what is ranking on a platform at the moment, and it takes no keyword. Values are normalized to 0–100 where the pipeline supports it.

Sources include Google, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, Reddit and more than 30 others, all behind a single connection and a single key. The key is free from the project site, and the same Bearer key covers REST calls to `POST https://api.trendsmcp.ai/api`. A stdio adapter ships in the repo for local hosts: it lists tools without a key, while paid calls need `TRENDSMCP_API_KEY` and draw down the same quota.

In Claude the setup is one `claude mcp add` line; Cursor and Windsurf take the key inside a JSON config. Windsurf expects `serverUrl` rather than Cursor's `url` plus `transport`, so a config copied between the two will not work as-is. Claude.ai goes a different route: its connector at `https://www.trendsmcp.ai/mcp` authenticates over OAuth, and a Bearer key does not belong in that config.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://google-trends.api.trendsmcp.ai/mcp`

## Install

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http google-trends-mcp https://google-trends.api.trendsmcp.ai/mcp
```

## When to use it
- compare demand growth in search and on a marketplace
- check what is ranking on a platform this week
- measure percent change in interest over six months
- pull keyword history from one source
- feed trend data to an agent without running your own scraper

## Example prompts
- Using TrendsMCP, compare 6-month growth for running shoes on Google and Amazon.
- What's trending on Reddit right now? Use TrendsMCP.
- Pull the Google history for the keyword "meal kit" over the last 90 days.
