# Godot MCP

Connects an AI assistant to a Godot project to edit scenes and settings, check scripts, and control a running game. Useful for game development and debugging through agent requests.

## What it does

The server gives an assistant tools to work with a Godot project: read and edit scenes, files, and settings, create resources, and manage autoloads. GDScript checks cover syntax and type errors. It can also create a project or script in C#.

When a game is running, the assistant can inspect and change node properties, call methods, switch scenes, manage signals, and fetch errors and logs. Godot 4.4 or later is required; the server was tested with Godot 4.7. That version requirement matters: the listed operations may not work with an older Godot release.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Works with: Godot

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add godot-mcp -- npx -y @tugcantopaloglu/godot-mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add godot-mcp -- npx -y @tugcantopaloglu/godot-mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "godot-mcp": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@tugcantopaloglu/godot-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:

            ]
        }
    }
}
```
### Gemini CLI
**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add godot-mcp npx -y @tugcantopaloglu/godot-mcp
```
## When to use it
- check GDScript for syntax and type errors
- change a node’s properties in a scene
- configure actions and keys in `project.godot`
- fetch errors and logs from a running game
- create a Godot project with a C# script
## Example prompts
- Check this project’s scripts for syntax and type errors.
- Read `main.tscn` and change the player node’s properties.
- Fetch new errors and logs while the game is running.
