## What it does

This server gives your coding assistant tools to render and preview PDF files from web markup. Under the hood, a deterministic Rust engine turns HTML tags and CSS properties into printable pages. No external system PDF stack is needed.

The tool handles invoices and multi-page reports. Getting it running requires `uvx` on your system to launch the `fullbleed-mcp` package.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add fullbleed-mcp -- uvx fullbleed-mcp
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from fullbleed-mcp <command>

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add fullbleed-pdf-engine -- uvx fullbleed-mcp
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from fullbleed-mcp <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "fullbleed-pdf-engine": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "fullbleed-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from fullbleed-mcp <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "fullbleed-pdf-engine": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "fullbleed-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from fullbleed-mcp <command>

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add fullbleed-pdf-engine uvx fullbleed-mcp
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from fullbleed-mcp <command>

## When to use it
- compile invoices or reports from HTML and CSS files
- export document page previews as PNG images
- verify PDF layout structure before saving the final file

## Example prompts
- Generate a PDF invoice using markup from `invoice.html` and styles from `main.css`.
- Render the statement in `report.html` to PDF and save a PNG preview.
- Check this HTML layout and compile the resulting PDF file.
