## What it does

The server exposes 25 tools spanning road, air and sea. Calculators cover loading metres, cubic metres, air chargeable weight, box-on-pallet fitting, ISO container specs, unit conversion and a consignment calculator that handles multi-item CBM, LDM and mode-specific chargeable weight. `emissions_calculator` returns CO2e using the ISO 14083 / GLEC distance-based method with open DEFRA, EPA and ADEME factors.

Dangerous goods and customs sit in their own group. `adr_lookup` searches 2,939 UNECE ADR 2025 entries, `adr_exemption_calculator` checks the 1.1.3.6 small load exemption, and `adr_lq_eq_check` covers Limited and Excepted Quantities. Tariff work runs through `hs_code_lookup` (6,940 HS 2022 codes), `uk_duty_calculator` on live GOV.UK Trade Tariff data and `incoterms_lookup`. Reference tools resolve airlines, airports, UN/LOCODE locations and ULD types; `validate` scans free text for ISO 6346 containers, AWB and IMO numbers and checks their check digits.

Answers are deterministic and carry a `_source` block naming the authority, edition, licence and verification status. This is reference material, not filing or legal advice: a clean `ics2_check` does not mean an ENS was accepted, and `validate` only does structural check-digit work. Anonymous calls are capped at 25 requests per day per IP, so steady use needs a key in `FREIGHTUTILS_API_KEY` — the package reads it from `process.env` and sends `Authorization: Bearer <key>` with each request.

## When to use it
- work out loading metres for a European or US trailer
- compare volumetric and actual weight for an air shipment
- check whether a consignment qualifies for the ADR 1.1.3.6 small load exemption
- find the HS code and estimate UK import duty and VAT
- catch container, AWB and IMO numbers with a bad check digit in a booking line
