## What it does

The official Fonto portal runs as a client-side JavaScript application, preventing AI scrapers from indexing its contents directly. This bridge circumvents the browser frontend. It pulls original XML pages from predictable endpoints and transforms DITA topics into clean Markdown text.

The toolset provides keyword lookups and direct symbol resolution for items like `documentsManager`. Pages stay inside a ten-minute memory cache to prevent duplicate network calls, while the catalog loads once across the runtime.

Because the hosted endpoint at `https://fonto-docs.elliat.nl/mcp` requires no authentication tokens, setup takes only a single terminal command. Self-hosting is also supported via Node.js on port 8080 if an isolated network is mandatory.
