# FirstData

FirstData helps an agent locate authoritative data sources from a natural-language query. Use it when you need primary evidence and a route back to the original material.

## What it does

The server matches a query to sources by subject, geography, time period and authority level. Results can include several recommendations with reasons, links to portals and APIs, data formats, and information about how to trace evidence. It can help locate official economic or financial statistics.

FirstData points to source material rather than returning ready-made numerical answers. The agent still needs to consult a recommended portal or API to retrieve or verify a figure. That distinction matters when your task requires the data itself, not a lead for further research.

Connect over HTTP to the hosted MCP server. In Claude Code, the command registers it as `firstdata`; Codex and Cursor can use the same server address in their MCP configuration.
