# Financial Modeling Prep (fmpsdk)

This MCP server gives an AI agent access to Financial Modeling Prep quotes, statements, prices, and about 240 API methods. An FMP key is required.

## What it does

The server exposes Financial Modeling Prep through MCP. It covers quotes, company profiles, financial statements, ratios, price history, news, calendars, insider data, ETFs, currencies, crypto, and other data groups. Ten curated tools handle common requests, while discovery tools can reach the library’s full set of about 240 methods.

Run it with `uvx fmpsdk-mcp` and provide `FMP_API_KEY`. The server can be added to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf (Devin Desktop), Cline, or Zed. Method results are usually lists of dictionaries, so the agent or your code must parse them. FMP plan tiers control endpoint access, while the 7 `client.tipranks` methods need a separate paid add-on and have not been checked against a live response. Without `FMP_API_KEY`, the server cannot query the API.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)
- Environment variables: `FMP_API_KEY` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
