# filekiwi-mcp-server

Takes a local file path and hands back a file.kiwi download link. Handy when a big file has to reach someone fast.

## What it does

The server exposes a single tool, `upload_to_kiwi`. Give it a path, and it pushes the file to file.kiwi and returns a link like `https://file.kiwi/abcdef12#secretKey`. Everything runs on plain Node.js through `npx`; no browser is involved. Transfers are end-to-end encrypted through the file.kiwi API.

File size is not capped. The link shows up right away, and a download can start while the upload is still running. Each file stays for 90 hours and is then removed automatically. No API key, no sign-up.

There is one catch. Sandboxed clients such as Claude Desktop block local filesystem access by default, so the assistant cannot read paths on your disk. Add the `@modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem` server alongside, pointed at the right folder, or `upload_to_kiwi` has nothing to open.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
