# .FAF Context

This MCP server keeps project context in project.faf and syncs it to files used by different AI tools. Use it when one shared context is needed.

## What it does

\`.FAF Context` treats `project.faf` as the project context source. It can create and update `AGENTS.md`, `.cursorrules`, `GEMINI.md`, and `CLAUDE.md`, so several AI tools receive the same project rules. The server runs locally over stdio.

Its tool set includes `faf_auto`, `faf_go`, `faf_dna`, `faf_doctor`, and `faf_claude`; these work with the context and score files through the `faf-cli` engine. Node 22 or newer is required, so an older Node runtime prevents the server from starting. In Claude Code, add it with `claude mcp add faf-mcp -- npx -y faf-mcp`.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add faf-mcp -- npx -y faf-mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add faf-context -- npx -y faf-mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "faf-context": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "faf-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "faf-context": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "faf-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add faf-context npx -y faf-mcp
```

## When to use it
- share project context across AI tools
- generate `CLAUDE.md` from `project.faf`
- sync `AGENTS.md` and `.cursorrules`
- inspect context file scores
- run a local MCP server over stdio

## Example prompts
- Use FAF and read the project rules from `project.faf`.
- Sync the project context into `CLAUDE.md` and `AGENTS.md`.
- Check the context status and score the project files with FAF.
