## What it does

The server connects an AI agent to voidtools Everything through `es.exe`. It queries the file index instead of walking directories one by one. Its `everything_search` tool accepts a search query and supports filters such as extension, path, size, and modification date, along with sorting and pagination.

You need Windows, Everything installed and running, `es.exe`, and Python 3.10+ or `uv`. A client can launch the server with `uvx everything-mcp`. If you configured a named Everything instance, you can pass it through `EVERYTHING_INSTANCE`; an incorrect value can break the connection. The package includes a Claude Code plugin, and the MCP server can also be configured in other clients.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)

## When to use it
- find Python files under a chosen directory
- filter files by extension and size
- locate files changed in the past week
- search for an exact filename or a regular-expression match

## Example prompts
- Find Python files related to tests under `C:\Projects`.
- Show files larger than 10 MB that changed today.
- Search the drive for the exact name `config.json` and sort matches by path.
