# Entscheidsuche — Schweizer Gerichtsentscheide

## What it does

The server connects to the public endpoint `https://mcp.entscheidsuche.ch/mcp` over Streamable HTTP. No API key, no authentication. Six tools ship with it: `search` using Lucene syntax, `search_by_case_number` for exact case numbers and BGE citations, `fetch_document` to pull a full decision by ID, plus `list_hierarchy`, `list_facets` and `server_info`.

Queries run across `title`, `abstract`, `meta`, `attachment.content` and `reference`. Words are joined with `AND` by default; quoted phrases, `OR`, `NOT` and wildcards work too. You can filter by decision date, scrape date, hierarchy (canton, court, chamber) and language. Leave the language out and nothing is restricted — the first available language field comes back, de before fr before it. Use `language_filter` with `de`, `fr` or `it` to pin it down.

The service is in beta, which matters if you plan to build it into a workflow. Claude Desktop speaks stdio only, so reaching an HTTP endpoint there takes the `mcp-remote` bridge via `npx`. Running your own copy needs Python: clone the repo, set up a virtual environment, and the server listens on `127.0.0.1:8765/mcp`, with a stdio mode as an alternative.
