## What it does

Point it at a vault and it builds an index on your own machine. Answers come back with the path of the note they came from, and with `age_days` and `stale` attached, so the model can separate fresh notes from old ones and go back to the source.

Retrieval fuses BM25, TF-IDF and multilingual embeddings, with an optional BGE reranker on top. PDFs travel the same route and keep their page numbers; OCR recovers scanned pages. Canvas notes get parsed into a typed graph, and dedicated tools run a subset of Dataview LIST/TABLE queries plus supported Obsidian Base filters.

Writes stay off unless you ask for them: seven write tools remain hidden until `--enable-write` is passed. During serve the process makes no outbound calls and collects no telemetry. The vault location goes in with `--vault`.

## When to use it
- find an old note by meaning when the filename is gone
- get an answer that carries its source path
- quote a PDF page together with its page number
- run a Dataview LIST or TABLE query from the chat
- ask questions across a Canvas graph
