## What it does

The server connects AI assistants to the EngrAmo flashcard service. You can point your client to the hosted endpoint at `https://mcp.engramo.app/` with OAuth 2.0 or run the `@engramo/mcp` package locally over `stdio`.

Local execution requires an account token alongside `ENGRAMO_API_URL`. Passing `ENGRAMO_TTS_GEMINI_API_KEYS` enables voice synthesis tools like `list_tts_voices` and `generate_card_audio`.

Hosted setups drop local speech synthesis entirely. If you want Gemini text-to-speech, run the server locally over `stdio`. Also keep backends distinct: tokens minted for the dev backend `api-engram.volmyr.com` do not authenticate against production `api.engramo.app`.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Remote server: `https://mcp.engramo.app/`
- Environment variables: `ENGRAMO_API_TOKEN`, `ENGRAMO_API_URL`, `ENGRAMO_TTS_GEMINI_API_KEYS` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## When to use it
- generate spaced-repetition cards during coding or chat sessions
- review study decks without leaving the editor
- create card audio using Gemini voice models
- switch between hosted OAuth connections and local stdio setups

## Example prompts
- Create a spaced-repetition flashcard explaining database idempotency.
- Check available voices using `list_tts_voices`.
- Synthesize audio for this card with `generate_card_audio`.
