## What it does

The server provides access to a dozen government sources through a single protocol: open data catalogs, company registries, statistics, public procurement, seismic events, and geographic directories. The agent can search datasets by topic, preview CSV and Excel files in memory, query DataStore without downloading, and check government service requirements.

Sources work without registration or tokens. The server parses CSV, JSON, GeoJSON, and compressed archives on the fly. Supports stdio and HTTP transport, includes Docker image and health checks.

The author warns that tool descriptions are partly AI-generated, may not cover all endpoint parameters, and can return incomplete results if the upstream API changes. Cross-check against the original portal before making important decisions.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add ecudatamcp -- uvx ecuador-mcp
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from ecuador-mcp <command>

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add ecudatamcp -- uvx ecuador-mcp
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from ecuador-mcp <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "ecudatamcp": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "ecuador-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from ecuador-mcp <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "ecudatamcp": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "args": [
                "ecuador-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from ecuador-mcp <command>

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add ecudatamcp uvx ecuador-mcp
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from ecuador-mcp <command>
