# Devart MCP Server for QuickBooks Online (ADO.NET)

## What it does

The server receives a request in everyday language, converts it into a structured query, and sends it through a Devart driver. It returns structured results for the AI client to use. This lets you ask for QuickBooks Online data to support analysis or reporting.

Connections use ADO.NET or ODBC. Building from source requires the .NET 8 SDK; the ODBC route also requires manual installation of Devart ODBC Driver for QuickBooks Online. Set the connection and `stdio` or `http` transport in `mcpserver.json`. HTTP also requires `HttpPort`. With `stdio`, the AI client starts the server; an ODBC build must match the data source bitness.

## Requirements
- Environment variables: `DEVART_MCP_QUICKBOOKS_CONNECTION` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
