## What it does

datatomcp exposes a CSV upload, a CSV link, or a Google Sheet to an agent as a remote data source. Add `https://app.datatomcp.com/mcp` to your client, sign in with OAuth, then select or upload a dataset in the service.

The agent can inspect column names, filter and sort records, or group data and calculate totals, averages, and counts. DuckDB performs the calculations, so they are not estimates generated by the model. Access is read-only: the agent cannot edit a sheet or run arbitrary SQL. Hourly Google Sheets refresh requires the Pro plan.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://app.datatomcp.com/mcp`

## Install

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http datatomcp https://app.datatomcp.com/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add datatomcp --url https://app.datatomcp.com/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "datatomcp": {
            "url": "https://app.datatomcp.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "datatomcp": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://app.datatomcp.com/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http datatomcp https://app.datatomcp.com/mcp
```

## When to use it
- filter CSV records by column values
- calculate totals and averages for grouped records
- inspect a column’s actual values before filtering
- count records that match chosen conditions

## Example prompts
- Calculate revenue by country from the connected orders sheet.
- Find records with the status “refunded” and count them.
- Show the actual values in `region`, then group the records by that column.
