## What it does

Cursor Delegate connects an MCP client to Cursor CLI. The calling agent prepares the brief, while `cursor-agent` carries out the implementation and returns the outcome, plan, changed files, and session ID. With `plan`, you can inspect a proposed approach before implementation; `ask` handles questions about the codebase.

It uses plain stdio and can be connected to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and other listed clients. A `doctor` tool checks the setup. If Cursor needs clarification, the current turn ends with a question that the agent can answer before resuming. Node.js 20+ and a logged-in Cursor CLI are required, using `cursor-agent login`; without them, the setup cannot complete.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add cursor-delegate-mcp -- npx -y cursor-delegate-mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add cursor-delegate -- npx -y cursor-delegate-mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "cursor-delegate": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "cursor-delegate-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "cursor-delegate": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "cursor-delegate-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add cursor-delegate npx -y cursor-delegate-mcp
```

## When to use it
- delegate multi-file edits to Cursor CLI
- review a plan before code changes
- return changed files with the final result
- ask questions about a codebase
- diagnose an MCP setup

## Example prompts
- Delegate this task to Cursor: migrate `src/api` from callbacks to async/await, update the tests, and explain the resulting diff.
- Create a plan for changing `src/api`, wait for my approval, then implement it in the same session.
- Ask Cursor where API errors are handled in this project, and check the server setup.
