# ctxstore — memory that follows you across models

Keeps project facts in one keyed store and hands them to the agent at the start of every session. Useful when you switch between editors.

## What it does

Facts live under keys: project details, decisions, things you agreed on. Each new session starts with that bundle, so you don't re-explain the setup. The same store is reachable from different models and clients.

Connection is over HTTP to `https://mcp.ctxstore.ai/mcp`. In Claude it's a single `claude mcp add` line, in Codex and Gemini CLI a dedicated add command, in Cursor and GitHub Copilot a JSON block in the config. Nothing runs locally, so the machine needs network access to that address.

The store is shared across every client you connect. Keep work and side projects in the same place and facts can surface where you didn't expect them — separate keys or stores solve that.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://mcp.ctxstore.ai/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http ctxstore-mcp https://mcp.ctxstore.ai/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add ctxstore-memory-that-follows-you-across-models --url https://mcp.ctxstore.ai/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "ctxstore-memory-that-follows-you-across-models": {
            "url": "https://mcp.ctxstore.ai/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "ctxstore-memory-that-follows-you-across-models": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://mcp.ctxstore.ai/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http ctxstore-memory-that-follows-you-across-models https://mcp.ctxstore.ai/mcp
```

## When to use it
- carry project decisions from one session to the next
- move context from Claude to Cursor without retelling it
- give the agent a list of key facts at session start
- keep one project description for several models
- stop repeating the same intro in every chat

## Example prompts
- Remember that we use `pnpm` and leave `legacy/` alone
- What do you know about this project?
- Add the move to `Postgres 16` to memory
