# context

A local MCP server that hands documentation to your AI agent without touching the network. Useful when you need fast doc lookup inside a closed environment.

## What it does

\`context` from neuledge runs an MCP server on your own machine. The agent asks it for reference material, and the server returns the relevant documentation from a local store. Nothing leaves your computer, so private code stays private and answers come back instantly.

It starts with a single `npx` command, no separate install step. Claude, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Cline and Zed are all supported, each with its own connection method. In Claude and Codex it is one terminal line; in Cursor and Copilot it is a JSON block in the config.

The server earns its place when you work with closed-source code or sit on a network without reliable access to external APIs. A local documentation source fits that setup. If your docs already live in the repo, the gain is smaller.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add context -- npx -y @neuledge/context
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add context -- npx -y @neuledge/context
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "context": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@neuledge/context"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "context": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@neuledge/context"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add context npx -y @neuledge/context
```

## When to use it
- look up library references without calling external services
- pull the right doc snippet while the agent is working
- run an AI agent on an isolated network
- wire one doc source into several editors at once
- keep internal code descriptions from leaving the machine

## Example prompts
- Find how routing works in this framework using the local docs
- Show a hooks example from the offline documentation
- Check the local docs to see if this method is deprecated
