## What it does

color-space exposes the `convert`, `gamut`, `css`, `space`, `spaces`, `cube`, `shader`, `icc`, and `code` tools to an agent. They accept CSS strings such as `#ff8000` or channel values, then return color-space conversions and related data. The collection covers 221 color spaces.

The `shader` tool writes conversion code for GLSL, WGSL, HLSL, or MSL. The `code` tool returns a JavaScript call alongside its verified color-science equivalent. Other tools handle gamut checks, CSS parsing and formatting, LUTs, and ICC profiles. The launch command relies on `npx`, so that command must work in the environment.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add color-space -- npx -y color-space
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add color-space -- npx -y color-space
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "color-space": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "color-space"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "color-space": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "color-space"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add color-space npx -y color-space
```

## When to use it
- convert a color between CSS color spaces
- check whether a color fits a target gamut
- generate GLSL or WGSL conversion code
- create a LUT or ICC color profile

## Example prompts
- Convert `#ff8000` from sRGB to `oklch` and show the result.
- Check whether `oklch(0.7 0.1 50)` is inside the sRGB gamut.
- Generate GLSL code for converting `rgb` to `oklch`.
