## What it does

CloakMCP connects an AI agent to a patched Chromium browser through MCP. Its tools cover page navigation, waiting, clicks, text entry, dropdowns, keyboard input, page history, JavaScript execution, Markdown extraction, and annotated screenshots. Optional capabilities add network interception, cookie access, PDF output, and console logs through `--caps`.

The server uses an accessibility snapshot as the main page interface. Interactive nodes receive references such as `[@eN]`, and later actions target those references instead of CSS selectors. Navigation and interaction can return a fresh snapshot after the page settles. In Claude Code, add the server with `claude mcp add cloakmcp -- uvx cloakbrowsermcp`. The ref-based model is a constraint: CSS selectors are not used for interaction.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add cloakmcp -- uvx cloakbrowsermcp
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from cloakbrowsermcp <command>

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add cloakmcp -- uvx cloakbrowsermcp
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from cloakbrowsermcp <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "cloakmcp": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "cloakbrowsermcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from cloakbrowsermcp <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "cloakmcp": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "cloakbrowsermcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from cloakbrowsermcp <command>

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add cloakmcp uvx cloakbrowsermcp
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from cloakbrowsermcp <command>

## When to use it
- drive browser sessions through anti-detection Chromium
- identify controls from an accessibility snapshot
- click and type by generated element references
- extract readable page content as Markdown
- save a page as PDF with the `pdf` capability

## Example prompts
- Open the page, inspect `cloak_snapshot`, and click the requested control using its `[@eN]` reference.
- Navigate to the target URL and return the main content with `cloak_read_page`.
- Start the browser with PDF access enabled, then save the current page with `cloak_pdf`.
