## What it does

CLIO Adios gives an agent a way to retrieve and analyze scientific data in BP5 files. It also exposes file metadata and attributes through ADIOS2, so you can ask about a dataset without writing a separate inspection script for each request.

To connect it to Claude Code, run `claude mcp add clio-adios -- uvx clio-kit`. This launches `clio-kit`; ADIOS2 is used to work with BP5 data. The command depends on `uvx` being available in your environment.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add adios-mcp -- uvx clio-kit
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from clio-kit <command>

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add clio-adios -- uvx clio-kit
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from clio-kit <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "clio-adios": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "clio-kit"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from clio-kit <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "clio-adios": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "clio-kit"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from clio-kit <command>

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add clio-adios uvx clio-kit
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from clio-kit <command>

## When to use it
