# clawcall

Hands your agent tools for real outbound calls in the US: it dials, walks phone menus, sits through hold time and brings back a transcript.

## What it does

clawcall is a stdio MCP server that wraps the ClawCall REST API. It imports nothing from the ClawCall backend — it just exposes that contract as tools any MCP host can call. Calls go outbound only, US numbers only, +1 format.

You can skip the API key entirely. On the first `place_call` the server issues a proto-key itself and writes it to `~/.config/clawcall/key.json`. The ClawCall skill touches the same file, so skill and server share one identity, one trial quota and one call history. Setting `CLAWCALL_API_KEY` in the environment shadows that file — useful for operators and CI.

A call takes minutes, so the loop matters: `place_call` returns a `call_id` right away, then you poll `get_call` every 3 seconds until `lifecycle` reads `finalized`, and pull the transcript with `get_call_transcript`. The `outcome` field describes the phone network, not your task — a picked-up call can still fail what you asked for. Do not retry 402 errors. `trial_exhausted`, `plan_required` and `reserved_number_required` all need a person, and the `action.url` has to be forwarded as-is because it is personalized and carries your proto-key.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Remote server: `https://api.clawcall.dev/mcp`
- Environment variables: `CLAWCALL_API_KEY`, `CLAWCALL_BASE_URL` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.
