## What it does

The server packages Claude Code into a Docker container based on the aicodebox runtime. The wrapper mounts your current directory and preserves SSH keys, restoring the last workspace session by default. Depending on the workload, you can run a minimal image or an extended build with tools for Go, Python, Node.js, and database clients.

You interact with the agent via the terminal, one-shot `claudebox -p` commands, HTTP `/run` calls, or MCP connections. The Claude Code binary is not bundled in the published image. A fresh container installs it through npm on its initial run, so it requires network connectivity. Authentication accepts `ANTHROPIC_API_KEY` or `CLAUDE_CODE_OAUTH_TOKEN` from the shell.

The environment is not a security sandbox. By default, the wrapper connects to the host network, mounts the host's Docker socket, and grants passwordless sudo access without confirmation dialogs.

## Requirements
- Needs: Docker
- Works with: Docker

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Install**
- The MCP registry has no launch command for it: see the repository README

## When to use it
- Run Claude Code inside a persistent Docker environment with managed SSH keys
- Expose Claude Code capabilities to external agent systems via streamable HTTP MCP
- Execute automated codebase checks with structured output in JSON or streaming NDJSON
- Schedule recurring autonomous tasks using the built-in cron interface

## Example prompts
- Review the project and produce machine-readable output: `claudebox -p "review this codebase" --output-format json`
- Inspect the codebase architecture using `claudebox -p "explain this codebase"`
- Start a clean container run without workspace history via `claudebox --no-continue`
