# Clairvoyance

This MCP server gives coding agents software-design checks for modules, abstractions, errors, and naming. It connects over HTTP without sign-in.

## What it does

Clairvoyance supplies skills that make an agent inspect design choices during implementation and review. They cover module depth, boundary decisions, information hiding, caller burden, abstraction quality, error handling, naming, and documentation. A separate skill compares design alternatives before one is chosen, while another scans for design smells.

The server is read-only and uses Streamable HTTP. Each request contains only the selected skill name, so project code, file paths, and prompts stay out of the request. MCP clients that support prompts can expose the skills as slash commands, including `/clairvoyance:red-flags`, `/clairvoyance:deep-modules`, and `/clairvoyance:design-it-twice`. Claude Code connects through `https://clairvoyance.fyi/mcp`.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://clairvoyance.fyi/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://clairvoyance.fyi/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add clairvoyance --url https://clairvoyance.fyi/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "clairvoyance": {
            "url": "https://clairvoyance.fyi/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "clairvoyance": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://clairvoyance.fyi/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http clairvoyance https://clairvoyance.fyi/mcp
```

## When to use it
- inspect whether module interfaces hide complexity
- spot pass-through methods and weak boundaries
- compare design alternatives before implementation
- reduce error-handling work pushed onto callers
- check naming and cross-module documentation

## Example prompts
- Run `/clairvoyance:red-flags` and scan this change for design smells.
- Use `/clairvoyance:deep-modules` to inspect the depth of these module interfaces.
- Call `/clairvoyance:design-it-twice` and compare two designs before I implement one.
