## What it does

The server lets an AI client inspect sensor readings, connections, automations, alerts, and dashboard data for a Chirp home. It can also add sensors from available profiles and send device commands. Changes need your approval; read-only requests do not.

Chirp hosts the service, which connects over HTTP. Sign in to your Chirp account in the browser to authorize access; there is no API key to create. The assistant can see only what your account can access. With multiple homes, the standard endpoint follows the home selected in the Chirp app. To keep a client tied to one home, use an endpoint containing that home's organization ID.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://mcp-auth.chirpwireless.io/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http chirp https://mcp-auth.chirpwireless.io/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add chirp-home-automation --url https://mcp-auth.chirpwireless.io/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "chirp-home-automation": {
            "url": "https://mcp-auth.chirpwireless.io/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "chirp-home-automation": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://mcp-auth.chirpwireless.io/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http chirp-home-automation https://mcp-auth.chirpwireless.io/mcp
```

## When to use it
- find sensors that stopped reporting readings
- review what triggered recent alerts
- inspect the actions configured in an automation
- send a device command and verify its result
- retrieve the data behind a dashboard widget

## Example prompts
- Check my home's sensor readings and identify devices that have gone quiet.
- Explain what each of my home automations does.
- Send a test alert to my phone and check whether it arrived.
