## What it does

The server speaks Model Context Protocol and exposes your Chatway conversations, tickets and contacts to an assistant. An agent can list and search threads, read message history, resolve or reopen a conversation, send replies, drop private notes for the team, assign agents and hand a chat from bot to human. Help articles are searchable too, which helps when an answer has to match your documentation.

Setup means adding the remote address `https://mcp.chatway.app/mcp` to your client. Transport is Streamable HTTP and sign-in goes through OAuth 2.1, so no API key is involved — you authorize against your Chatway account. Workspace owners and admins are the ones who can connect. Tagging and contact custom data tools sit behind paid plans.

The repo also ships Agent Skills: prepared workflows for triaging unresolved chats, drafting replies, routing to the right person and spotting recurring issues. They install separately from the MCP connection with `npx skills add Chatway-app/chatway-mcp-server`, and your client has to support skills at all. Skip the MCP authorization and the skills have nothing to call — the two steps are independent.
