## What it does

Busabase gives AI assistants a dedicated workspace and structured database layer. It prevents silent table overwrites. Every mutation turns into an explicit ChangeRequest containing a diff and an explanatory message. When the client holds direct write access, the patch applies immediately. Otherwise, operations pause until an operator inspects and approves them.

The server communicates via Streamable HTTP across two environments. Local installs connect to `http://localhost:15419/api/mcp` without credentials. Remote workspaces use `https://busabase.com/api/mcp`, relying on browser-based OAuth or a static Bearer token passed in `$BUSABASE_API_KEY`.

Failing to start a new chat after authentication leaves the client without its tool definitions. The session must be restarted so the environment registers the newly approved catalog.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://busabase.com/api/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http busabase https://busabase.com/api/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add busabase --url https://busabase.com/api/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "busabase": {
            "url": "https://busabase.com/api/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "busabase": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://busabase.com/api/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http busabase https://busabase.com/api/mcp
```

## When to use it
- submit database modifications as diff-backed change requests
- pause unprivileged agent writes for manual team review
- inspect bases and records across Streamable HTTP endpoints
- scaffold workspace applications with bounded permission scopes

## Example prompts
- List all bases in my Busabase workspace and inspect the latest rows.
- Propose a ChangeRequest to update schema properties in our workspace.
- Create a workspace application using the Busabase app creator skill.
