# briq

briq lets an agent run databases, code sandboxes, and GitHub apps in the cloud. Use it to test a project away from your machine or give an app its own Postgres instance.

## What it does

briq connects an agent to hosted environments over MCP. The agent can launch a prepared recipe or an OCI image, run commands, inspect logs, and transfer files. Available options include Postgres, Redis, and a sandbox equipped with Python, Node, git, and a shell for builds and tests.

Each environment runs in its own microVM, while teams get a private network. The remote server uses browser-based OAuth for sign-in. On first use, choose the team and set the agent’s budget. For a server or CI job that cannot open a browser, provide `BRIQ_API_KEY` in an `Authorization: Bearer` header.

Idle environments go to sleep and wake when used again; charges come from the budget assigned to the agent. That matters for unattended jobs: prepare an API key when browser sign-in is unavailable.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://api.briq.cloud/mcp`

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http briq https://api.briq.cloud/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
codex mcp add briq --url https://api.briq.cloud/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "briq": {
            "url": "https://api.briq.cloud/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "briq": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://api.briq.cloud/mcp"
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http briq https://api.briq.cloud/mcp
```

## When to use it
- launch a project database and retrieve its connection string
- run a test suite in a cloud sandbox
- deploy a GitHub repository and get a link to the app
- inspect logs from a running environment
- duplicate an environment before a risky change

## Example prompts
- Start a Postgres instance for this project on briq and connect the app to it.
- Create a briq sandbox, copy this project into it, and run the tests there.
- Deploy the `briq-cloud/wall` repository on briq and send me its link.
