## What it does

Brandsystem MCP turns a website, PDF guide, Figma library, or local files into a portable `.brand/` directory. The runtime can contain colors, fonts, logo details, DTCG tokens, voice rules, anti-patterns, and compliance data. Agents can load `brand-runtime.json` as shared brand context instead of receiving those rules in every prompt.

The Core profile exposes 12 tools for building, using, and checking a brand system. `brand_start` creates the core identity and can produce `DESIGN.md`, `design-synthesis.json`, `interaction-policy.json`, and an HTML report. Later sessions add visual identity, messaging, and persona data.

The server connects over stdio and is started with `npx -y @brandsystem/mcp`. It is local-first and does not require an account. A separate command can save the brand to Brandcode Studio for shared access.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add brandsystem-mcp -- npx -y @brandsystem/mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add brandsystem-mcp-brand-guidelines-for-ai -- npx -y @brandsystem/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "brandsystem-mcp-brand-guidelines-for-ai": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@brandsystem/mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "brandsystem-mcp-brand-guidelines-for-ai": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@brandsystem/mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add brandsystem-mcp-brand-guidelines-for-ai npx -y @brandsystem/mcp
```

## When to use it
- build a brand system from a website or PDF
- extract colors, fonts, and logos from Figma
- give an agent one portable brand context
- check generated work against anti-patterns

## Example prompts
- Run `brand_start` on this website and create the core brand system.
- Use `brand_write` to make a social graphic for the product launch using `brand-runtime.json`.
- Run `brand_deepen_identity` and add composition and illustration rules.
