## What it does

This server runs locally as a bridge to the BillingEngine API. It equips your assistant with tools such as `create_invoice`, `find_customers`, and `record_payment` right in the chat. You can also trigger `download_invoice` to save generated PDF or XML documents to your Downloads directory.

Safety limits are built in by default. New invoices are generated solely as drafts, meaning nothing gets mailed to your buyers without your manual approval in the web interface. Nothing can be deleted through the tools.

The server requires Node.js 20 or newer and an active paid plan, because the free tier lacks API access. You must provide your credential using `BILLINGENGINE_API_KEY`.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `BILLINGENGINE_API_KEY` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## When to use it
