# Behavior Runtime MCP

This MCP server runs behavior trees in a browser runtime, reacts to triggers, and exposes execution state. It suits AI-agent workflows with explicit control logic.

## What it does

Behavior Runtime MCP runs deterministic behavior trees inside a browser environment. An agent can load, replace, or remove a tree, change runtime parameters, inspect traversal state, and pause or stop an active run. Shared values are exposed through a blackboard.

The server also handles prioritized reactive triggers, captures browser action sequences, and reports runtime metrics. SQLite stores runtime records; behavior trees and audit entries use SHA-256 hashes, with database snapshots and restores available. Node.js `>=20.0.0` is required, and intention checks depend on `PENTAD_HMAC_SECRET`. Without that secret, signed dispatch tokens cannot pass verification.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add behavior-mcp -- npx -y @putervision/behavior-mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add behavior-runtime-mcp -- npx -y @putervision/behavior-mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "behavior-runtime-mcp": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@putervision/behavior-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "behavior-runtime-mcp": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "@putervision/behavior-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add behavior-runtime-mcp npx -y @putervision/behavior-mcp
```

## When to use it
- run behavior trees inside a browser
- interrupt an active run with a priority trigger
- inspect shared blackboard values
- pause, resume, or abort execution
- review runtime history and tick metrics

## Example prompts
- Load the behavior tree in the browser and show its current execution state.
- Register a high-priority trigger that interrupts the active behavior.
- Read the blackboard values and the execution history for this tree.
