## What it does

Axiomize provides the modeling layer for scientific work. It turns a loosely stated problem into a versioned mathematical model with explicit assumptions, parameters, and units. The model uses a Model IR, receives dimensional and numerical checks, and can be exported to SBML, CellML, or Modelica.

The MCP server runs as `axiomize mcp`. In Claude Code, add it with `claude mcp add axiomize -- uvx axiomize`. Axiomize is separate from a numerical-methods library: it defines and checks the model rather than serving as the computation engine. Dimensional validation fails when a model omits required units.

## Requirements
- Needs: Python and uv (commands run via uvx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add axiomize -- uvx axiomize
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from axiomize <command>

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add axiomize -- uvx axiomize
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from axiomize <command>

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "axiomize": {
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "axiomize"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from axiomize <command>

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "axiomize": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "uvx",
            "args": [
                "axiomize"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from axiomize <command>

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add axiomize uvx axiomize
```
uvx runs the command named after the package; if the README names another one, use uvx --from axiomize <command>

## When to use it
- turn a research idea into a mathematical model
- catch dimensional errors in model definitions
- keep assumptions and parameters in a versioned form
- export a model to SBML, CellML, or Modelica

## Example prompts
- Turn this research description into a versioned mathematical model with explicit units.
- Run dimensional and numerical checks on this model and report the validation results.
- Export the model to SBML, CellML, and Modelica.
