## What it does

This server exposes the Avalara Tax Registration and Business Licenses API to an MCP client. Your agent can pull license guidance, file sales and payroll tax registrations, manage questionnaires, and validate business activity. Avalara builds and maintains it, so it is not a community project.

The endpoint is `https://mcp.avalara.com/bl` over HTTP. Access runs through OAuth 2.1: the client sends you to Avalara's sign-in page, you log in, review the requested permissions, then grant consent. A current browser is needed for that step. An active Avalara subscription is required — every call reads your own account data, so without it the server has nothing to work with.

It sits alongside the other Avalara MCP servers: AvaTax, Returns, E-Invoicing, Exemption Certificates, Cross-Border Trade, Tax Content. Pick AvaTax when you only need rate lookups; this one is about registrations and licenses.
