## What it does

Audionaut connects an AI agent to open multitrack projects through MCP. The agent can cut audio, set fade-in and fade-out points, analyse a project and export the result. The project stays open in the Audionaut desktop app.

You need Audionaut and Node.js 18+ before connecting the server. On macOS, projects should be kept in the Music folder. The app is a hard requirement: without Audionaut installed and open, this server cannot edit the project.

The server is listed for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf (Devin Desktop), Cline and Zed. In Claude Code, add it with `claude mcp add audionaut -- npx -y audionaut-mcp`.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `AUDIONAUT_CLI` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add --env AUDIONAUT_CLI=<AUDIONAUT_CLI> --transport stdio audionaut-mcp -- npx -y audionaut-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add audionaut-mcp --env AUDIONAUT_CLI=<AUDIONAUT_CLI> -- npx -y audionaut-mcp
```
Replace <…> with your own values

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "audionaut-mcp": {
            ],
            "env": {
                "AUDIONAUT_CLI": "<AUDIONAUT_CLI>"
            }
        }
    }
}
```
Replace <…> with your own values

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
    "servers": {
        "audionaut-mcp": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
            ],
            "env": {
                "AUDIONAUT_CLI": "<AUDIONAUT_CLI>"
            }
        }
    }
}
```
Replace <…> with your own values

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add -e AUDIONAUT_CLI=<AUDIONAUT_CLI> audionaut-mcp npx -y audionaut-mcp
```

## When to use it
- cut a multitrack audio project into sections
- add fade-in and fade-out effects
- analyse an audio project
- export an edited project
- apply edits through an AI agent

## Example prompts
- Cut the open project into separate sections and close the gaps between them.
- Add a smooth fade-in and fade-out to the selected track.
- Analyse this project and export the edited result.
