## What it does

This server equips coding agents with a `search` function powered by Perplexity chat completion endpoints. Queries route through `sonar` or `sonar-pro` engines to retrieve current web information. Every response returns textual findings paired with an array of reference URLs in `citations`.

The integration accepts a mandatory `query` string and an optional `search_recency_filter`. You can constrain hits to four intervals: `hour`, `day`, `week`, or `month`. Omitting this field leaves the query unbounded by publication date.

Authentication relies strictly on the `PERPLEXITY_API_KEY` environment variable. Without this credential present in your configuration, search operations will fail immediately. The code is shared under the MIT license.

## When to use it
- fetch up-to-date web answers using Perplexity Sonar engines
- narrow query outcomes to articles published within an hour, day, week, or month
- extract citation links to verify external information

## Example prompts
- Search Perplexity for recent updates on React releases from this past week
- Look up current library documentation changes published in the last day
