# Apple Docs 2.0 MCP

Gives your coding agent Apple's developer documentation, design guidelines and WWDC sessions, so answers come from the source instead of guesswork.

## What it does

The server starts with `npx -y apple-docs-2.0-mcp` and plugs into Claude, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf, Cline or Zed. Seven tools ship inside: site search, an offline page map, full API and article pages, HIG, App Store Connect Help, framework symbols and API relationships.

The page map resolves a title with no network call. That helps when an error message or a snippet already names the property you need. WWDC 2014–2026 sessions are bundled with transcripts and code excerpts, so the agent can point at the talk that introduced an API. Search goes through Apple's own service, which means requests get paced and retried — Apple answers fast queries with nothing.

No API key, no account. Node.js is the one thing to have installed, since the launch goes through `npx`. This is a fork of kimsungwhee's Apple Docs MCP: search and framework lists in the original broke after Apple changed its pages, and 2.0 restores them. The 207 automated tests cover the server itself, not anything in your project.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add apple-docs-2-0-mcp -- npx -y apple-docs-2.0-mcp
```

### Codex

**Platform CLI**
```bash
codex mcp add apple-docs-20-mcp -- npx -y apple-docs-2.0-mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "mcpServers": {
        "apple-docs-20-mcp": {
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "apple-docs-2.0-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### GitHub Copilot

**Config file**
File `.vscode/mcp.json`:
```json
{
    "servers": {
        "apple-docs-20-mcp": {
            "type": "stdio",
            "command": "npx",
            "args": [
                "-y",
                "apple-docs-2.0-mcp"
            ]
        }
    }
}
```

### Gemini CLI

**Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini mcp add apple-docs-20-mcp npx -y apple-docs-2.0-mcp
```

## When to use it
- find a Swift method signature from an error message
- read a Human Interface Guidelines page before building a screen
- locate the WWDC talk that shipped a new API, with its code
- pick frameworks for a task such as machine learning
- check App Store Connect product page fields and review rules

## Example prompts
- Look up `NavigationStack` in Apple's docs and show the WWDC code that uses it.
- Open the HIG page on navigation and list the tab bar requirements.
- Find `UIView` through the docs map and show its inheritance and conformances.
