## What it does

The server talks to the hosted endpoint `https://amazon.api.trendsmcp.ai/mcp` and exposes three tools: a time series for one keyword, percent change across windows from 7 days to 5 years, and the platform's current top trends. Top trends take no keyword; the other two do. Figures come back normalized to 0–100 where the pipeline allows it.

An API key is mandatory. Paid calls fail without one. The free key from trendsmcp.ai carries a monthly request cap. The same Bearer key also authenticates the REST endpoint `POST https://api.trendsmcp.ai/api`, so you can wire the data into scripts rather than an agent.

The repo ships a stdio adapter for local hosts. It lists tools without a key, but paid calls need `TRENDSMCP_API_KEY` and draw down the same quota. Hosted HTTP stays the default route.

## When to use it
- check how demand for a keyword moved over six months
- compare growth across several time windows in one call
- see what is ranking on Amazon right now without naming a keyword
- feed Amazon trend data into an agent instead of scraping listings
- reuse one key for both MCP and REST calls

## Example prompts
- Using Amazon Trends MCP, show 6-month growth for `protein powder`
- What's trending on Amazon right now? Pull the top trends
- Compare `air fryer` demand over 7 days and over a year
