# alpha_vantage_mcp

## What it does

The server exposes Alpha Vantage endpoints through the Model Context Protocol. Clients discover functions via `tools/list`. The model then calls them to retrieve equity quotes or macro metrics.

You can point your agent to `https://mcp.alphavantage.co/mcp` over SSE or launch it locally using `uvx marketdata-mcp-server`. Without an Alpha Vantage API key, queries fail: the key must be authorized in the browser or supplied in the terminal.
