## What it does

Airtable User MCP provides tools for changing a base schema, editing fields and views, handling records and extensions, and checking formulas. It connects through Airtable’s internal API. The project pairs it with the official Airtable MCP when HTTP access to records is needed.

Choose a `read-only`, `safe-write`, `full`, or `custom` tool profile to set the permission scope. This server adds capabilities to the official MCP rather than replacing it. The project warns that minor releases can introduce breaking changes, so pin a version when your setup needs to stay stable.

## Requirements
- Needs: Node.js (commands run via npx)
- Environment variables: `AIRTABLE_HEADLESS_ONLY`, `AIRTABLE_NO_BROWSER`, `AIRTABLE_USER_MCP_HOME` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

**Platform CLI**
```bash
claude mcp add --env AIRTABLE_HEADLESS_ONLY=<AIRTABLE_HEADLESS_ONLY> --env AIRTABLE_NO_BROWSER=<AIRTABLE_NO_BROWSER> --env AIRTABLE_USER_MCP_HOME=<AIRTABLE_USER_MCP_HOME> --transport stdio airtable-user-mcp -- npx -y airtable-user-mcp
