# agent-skill-loader

Exposes static Claude Code skills to various MCP clients without duplicating local files. It turns Markdown guides into slash prompts and runtime tools.

## What it does

The server watches designated directories for `SKILL.md` documents. Once indexed, these definitions become accessible as slash prompts or callable tools across compatible editors. A built-in watcher fires a `listChanged` event whenever folders change, keeping prompt menus fresh without restarting the client.

Five tools handle the discovery and management lifecycle. Agents can filter available guides via `list_skills`, inspect full text using `read_skill`, or copy instructions straight into `.agent/skills` via `install_skill`. Extra search directories can be appended at runtime or saved permanently in `skill-paths.json`.

Running the package requires Node.js version 18 or newer. If you plan to execute prompts inside automated CI environments, pass `MCP_NO_WATCH=1` to disable filesystem watching.

## When to use it
- share Claude Code skills across diverse MCP editors without file duplication
- locate domain instructions dynamically through `list_skills`
- persist relevant skills directly into project directories using `install_skill`
- inspect path health and parsing issues with `debug_info`
