## What it does

Actionbook pairs a hosted MCP connector with a dedicated Chrome browser extension. Instead of parsing raw page markup on every step, it relies on direct API calls when available and falls back to UI automation for complex single-page applications. The agent reuses active browser logins, avoiding login walls and multi-step verification hurdles.

The server registers a single tool named `actionbook`. It handles workflow lookups through `search` and `manual`, while controlling pages using `goto`, `snapshot`, `click`, and `type`. Because the architecture operates without local session state, the agent can run tasks across dozens of browser tabs at the same time.

Browser automation fails entirely without the Chrome extension linked to the Actionbook dashboard. The standalone `@actionbookdev/cli` package is deprecated, so setup depends completely on connecting to the hosted HTTP endpoint.

## Requirements
- Remote server: `https://edge.actionbook.app/mcp`
- Works with: Chrome

```bash
codex mcp add actionbook --url https://edge.actionbook.app/mcp
```

### Cursor

**Config file**
File `.cursor/mcp.json`:

        }
    }
}
```
### Gemini CLI
**Platform CLI: remote server**
```bash
gemini mcp add -t http actionbook https://edge.actionbook.app/mcp
```
## When to use it
- read information from accounts behind existing browser logins
- extract text and pricing across multiple websites in parallel
- fill complex web inputs, dropdowns, and date pickers
- turn repetitive browser research into reusable action recipes
## Example prompts
- "Use Actionbook to check pricing across stripe.com, linear.app, and vercel.com."
- "Use Actionbook to inspect the current tab and extract the table into a clean CSV."
