# Acronis MCP

An unofficial MCP server and skill for Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud. It mirrors tenants, agents and licence usage locally, then hands them to your AI agent.

## What it does

The server talks to the Acronis API and keeps a local copy of tenant, agent and licence-consumption data. Cross-tenant rollups come from the server itself, since a single API call will not return them. It runs over stdio on your own machine and needs no code from you.

Two binaries land in your user bin path: `acronis-cli` for direct queries and `acronis-mcp` for the agent. Claude, Codex and Cowork pick up the skill from `SKILL.md` in that directory. Claude Desktop users can open the `.mcpb` bundle through Settings > Extensions instead. Authenticate after install, then run `acronis-cli --help` to see what is available.

Do not start the HTTP transport (`--transport http`) in this build. It ships without a password, binds to every network interface, and a page you open in a browser can reach it. That is why ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot and the Gemini app are on hold — each of them needs the remote path. Stay on stdio, and tear down any tunnel you set up for a remote agent.

## Requirements
- Environment variables: `ACRONIS_BASE_URL`, `ACRONIS_BEARER_AUTH`, `ACRONIS_CLIENT_ID`, `ACRONIS_CLIENT_SECRET`, `ACRONIS_DATACENTER` — keys and tokens: ask the human for the values, never commit them or put them in shared files.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Install**
- The MCP registry has no launch command for it: see the repository README

## When to use it
- pull tenant, agent and licence data into one view
- spot agents whose backups have gone stale
- track licence consumption per client
- build a fleet report for a quarterly review
- check machine protection status from inside the chat

## Example prompts
- List every Acronis tenant and how many agents each one has
- Find agents with no recent backup this week
- Summarise Acronis licence usage for my report
