# 3D New Era AI

A Rust home-design editor that exposes an MCP server, so your AI draws walls, places furniture, checks lighting and renders photos while you watch the scene change.

## What it does

While the editor window is open, it answers MCP requests at `http://127.0.0.1:7878/mcp`; starting it with `newera serve` skips the window. Agents in Claude, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini CLI, Zed or Cline call its tools, and each edit lands on the plan and in the 3D view at once, one Ctrl+Z away.

A hosted endpoint at `https://mcp.3dneweraai.com/mcp` works from a chat client with email sign-in, and projects live in your account. In a browser tab, MCP is switched on from the **AI** panel with Ctrl+Shift+M; a small relay carries messages between the tab and your client and keeps none of them. The tab's address stops answering once you close it, so guard it like a password. Video rendering stays out of the tab — no one wants it locked for minutes.

Plain downloads are unsigned, so the OS asks once on first launch: SmartScreen on Windows, or the privacy settings route on macOS. The one-line installers avoid that dialog. A Linux tarball also ships, with a script that adds the menu entry and the `.newera` file type.

## When to use it
- sketch a room to given dimensions and fill it with furniture
- build joinery that matches real ergonomic standards
- check lighting before sending the plan to a client
- render a photo straight from the agent conversation
- rework a layout by typing instead of dragging
